VIDEO: Digital Multimeters for DIY Solar Power – Tutorial guide

Beginner Friendly! I have produced a second tutorial video about learning to use a Digital Multimeter (DMM) with DIY solar power. In this Part 2 video, I will teach you how do basic measurements and checks against some solar power components.

Topics include basic DC-AC inverter diagnosis

In the video I will also be reviewing my Gochifix 3-in-1 digital multimeter and oscilloscope from Banggood. While I received the meter for review, I do not receive any commission for sales or for giving my opinions. If you want to check out the Gochifix 3-in-1, click here (Amazon link provided by Banggood for the review).

Topics include:

  • Checking DC-AC inverters for common fault conditions
  • Checking waveform with digital oscilloscope
  • Inverter Short circuit
  • Inverter Open circuit
  • Inverter Floating Ground
  • Inverter Normal resistance readings
  • Checking BMS Battery Management Systems
  • Measuring lithium ion pack cell voltage
  • Measuring lithium ion main pack voltage
  • Bypass or rectifier diode checks
  • Continuity check

…and much more!

If you are a beginner in DIY solar power and want to pick up some basic digital multimeter skills, these videos may be helpful. I don’t go too deep into a technical deep dive, but instead try to provide a variety of useful information that can be practically applied in daily uses.

By learning some basic digital multimeter skills, any DIY solar power enthusiast can be prepared to better navigate the subject and troubleshoot common faults and errors.

I hope this content is helpful, thanks for reading and see you later. -DD
